SARATOGA – State Police arrested an off duty Albany detective and Delmar resident for DWI on Jan. 28.
Troopers stopped 50-year-old Eugene O’Hanlon at about 8:20 p.m. after he was spotted driving on Route 9 without his headlights on.
O’Hanlon did show signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests.
It was later determined he had a BAC of .25, more than three times the legal limit. Because of the elevated BAC, he was charged with the misdemeanors of aggravated DWI and DWI.
O’Hanlon, a cop for some 30 years, was suspended from the force while an internal investigation is undertaken. According to the union’s contract, he will be suspended without pay for 30 days.
He was issued an appearance and is slated to appear in Saratoga Springs court on Feb. 10 at 9 a.m.
