COLONIE – A 21-year-old town man is under arrest for a host of charged including attempted rape.
According to Lt. Robert Winn, a 21-year-old female homeowner was sleeping at 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 1 when she was awoken by a male who had his face covered and was armed with a large kitchen knife.
The male, Godfrey K. Freeman, of 72 McNutt Ave., allegedly gained entrance by removing a window-mounted air conditioner. He then attempted to rape the woman, but he fled after she recognized him.
The location of the alleged crime is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
Responding officers located Freeman at his home, a short distance from the crime scene. Freeman is charged with attempted rape in the first degree, burglary, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal obstructing of breathing.
He was referred to the Albany County District Attorney for further court proceedings.
