Shaker and Shenedehowa high schools received threats posted from a “clown” social media account, according to the respective district websites.
The threat to Shaker came in on Sunday, Oct. 2 at around 11 p.m., and the district said it is similar to threats reported across the nation.
Colonie police were contacted and searched the area surrounding the high school, junior high school and Blue Creek Elementary School during the overnight hours as a precaution.
It was determined the threat was not credible, but police and school officials searched the grounds again Monday morning as a precaution.
The bomb threat to Shendehowa came in via the same type of social media account at about midnight on Monday, Oct. 3.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department were notified and it did investigate, but “due to the non-specific nature” of the threat school was not interrupted.
As precautions, staff searched all buildings and buses Monday morning prior to the start of school, and there was an increased police presence at all buildings throughout the day.
Both districts say they will update their websites as more information becomes available.
