Nominations are currently being accepted for TrustCo Bank’s ‘Hometown Heroes’ Hall of Fame. Now in it’s fourth year, the Hall of Fame was created to honor local individuals who “demonstrate strong community involvement and work hard to make a positive change in the community.”
“Ordinary people do extraordinary acts to help their community,” said TrustCo President and CEO, Robert J. McCormick. “These individuals work hard every day to make a difference and ask nothing for themselves. We want to honor these Home Town Heroes who might otherwise go unnoticed.”
Past winners include: Wallace Campbell, the founder of the “Wallace M. Campbell Dining Center” at the Schenectady City Mission; Sarah Dewitz, founder of the non-for-profit organization, Just 1 Book, which has distributed over 10,000 books to children in her community; Tom Regan, of Operation: Please Remember Me; and Debbie Emery-Ross, the Resident Director of the Ronald McDonald House in Albany.
The public may submit nominations by going to Trustco Bank’s web site at TrustcoBank.com or by visiting any Trustco branch beginning Monday, June 27, 2016. Nominations must be submitted by Wednesday, August 31, 2016. A Committee will review all nominations and announce the winners. Up to five individuals and/or groups will be selected each year.
Winners will be invited to a special luncheon and receive a plaque to be displayed next to previous award recipients, at Trustco Bank’s Corporate Headquarters.
