COLONIE- Two men were arrested this past weekend for allegedly attempting to steal artwork from Albany International Airport.

Florida stepfather and stepson Edward B. Chapman 47, and Cody L. Siniard, 25, were working in the Catskill area on a construction project and were waiting at the airport to pick up another construction worker on Sunday, according to a press release from the Albany County Sheriff’s office. While waiting, Chapman and Siniard attempted to steal art from the third floor art gallery in the airport, according to the release. The art was worth about $6000.

However, due to a concerned witness, authorities were contacted and the two men were arrested before they could escape with the art, which was recovered. Chapman and Siniard were arrested at approximately 10:44 p.m. No harm was done to the art.

“This case was initiated when a witness did exactly what we have been encouraging the public to do, if you see something, say something” Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said.

Upon investigation, it was also discovered that the suspects had a pair of children with them, ages 11 and 13. The children, who had been left alone in a motel in Greene County, were placed into the care of Greene County Child Protective Services. Neither of the children were harmed.
