Albany County Executive Democrat Dan McCoy defeated Republic Francis J. “Call me Joe” Vitollo and Green Party candidate Dan Plaat in a landslide, receiving more than 68 percent of votes.
Democrat County Sheriff Craig Apple was elected unopposed to a second term, while Democratic County Comptroller Michael Conners easily won a sixth term against Republican Cornelius W. Donovan with 75 percent of votes.
Democrat Timothy Cavanaugh and Republican David Carhart won the county’s two coroner seats against Republican Michael Leonard and Republican David Carhart.
Voters also easily voted down the proposal to change the size of the legislature without a public referendum. McCoy and the League of Women Voters both opposed the change for its lack of public forum.
