State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving three vehicles and a pedestrian that occurred on Interstate 87 in Colonie on Wednesday, Nov. 5, around 7 a.m. Angelo Delduce Jr., 72, of Latham stood outside of his vehicle, stopped on the shoulder of the highway for unknown reasons, when a three-vehicle crash occurred, according to police. One of the vehicle involved struck Delduce, killing him. Delduce’s vehicle was not one of those involved in the accident. Police said James Moore, 36, of Mechanicville, drove the first vehicle in the crash that struck Delduce. No injuries were reported for Moore. Gary Weaver, 57, of Queensbury, drove the second vehicle, and Eric Gumprecht, 54, of Cohoes drove the third. Police said Gumprecht was the only driver to report injuries, which included head and neck pain.
Following the incident, two lanes of Interstate 87 were closed for several hours, which caused traffic to be backed up to Clifton Park. The highway reopened at noon. The multi-vehicle crash and death are still under investigation. Check back to spotlightnews.com for updates.
