The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass., celebrates its first Kidspace exhibition and explores the theme of curiosity with a variety of free activities, art making projects, and performances on Saturday, Nov. 17, from noon-4 p.m. at its Curiosity Family Day. Join Carol Connolly and Don Darmer for Lion Tales, a rollicking romp of musical storytelling; watch as Christopher Davis of New England Falconry works with a harrier hawk; learn about the mystery of cougars in New England with naturalist Robert Tougias; and hear about big cats with naturalist Teralyn LaChance. Art making activities include safari magnets, forest collage, and lion pillows.
In the exhibit, “Lions and Tigers and Museums, Oh My!” the Clark utilizes a video loop of Peter Paul Rubens’s enormous painting “Tiger, Lion, and Leopard Hunt” (in the collection of the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Rennes, France) to spark a sense of curiosity.
