The Pine Bush Project: A symposium on student research on the Pine Bush will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center at 195 New Karner Road, Albany.
The evening will feature presentations by the students of Farnsworth Middle School’s Hiawatha 7 Team. The students will share the results of their work and the work of Farnsworth Middle School during the 14 years of restoration in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. There will be a variety of presentations including:
Karner Blue Rearing at FMS
Girdling of Aspens: Where have 50,000 trees gone?
The Trading Game: Colonial bartering in and near the Pine Bush
The event will include a silent auction hosted by the Friends of the Pine Bush Community. While touring the student presentations make a bid to support two of the award winning projects at FMS. Due to the recession, the Pine Bush Project and the School Organic Garden programs are in jeopardy of being lost. Your bid will help the program and you might win one of the many donated prizes.
The program is free and open to the public.
The Friends work cooperatively with the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission to support activities that further conservation and education purposes in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. Friends organize opportunities for the public to participate in activities that contribute to stewardship and appreciation of the unique natural communities found in the Albany Pine Bush Preserve.
