Senior Services of Albany is sponsoring a program that provides income tax assistance for low and middle income taxpayers with special attention to those 60 and older. Volunteers from, AARP Taxaide are trained and authorized by the IRS to assist in filing tax forms and basic tax schedules. Appointments are required and can be made by calling Albany Senior Services of Albany at 465-3322.

Harry Strole, guitarist and singer, will perform from 6 to 7 p.m. Happy Hour is from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Dinner follows at 5 p.m. The suggested dinner contribution is $3.70, and the entertainment fee is $5.

AARP Drive Safety Program

Senior Services of Albany in conjunction with AARP will be offering their “Drive Safety Program” on Monday, April 23, at the Westview Senior Center, 680 Central Ave.. The classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. This course provides drivers the opportunity to save 10 percent on their car insurance. The cost of the class is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members.
If you would like to register, call the Westview Senior Center at 4822120. In addition, class participants can enjoy a hot lunch for a suggested contribution of $3.70. If you would like to order lunch, please call 482-2120 by noon on Friday, April 20.

Senior Legal Services Community visit for residents of Albany County of 60 years of age and over by Anne Marie Malak, Supervising Attorney of Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, Inc. Malak will provide legal advice, legal services, representation and / or referrals on a variety of civil legal issues facing elders including social security, SSI, food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid, tenant issues, abuse and more. The program is funded by the Albany County Department of Aging. Please call Westview Senior Center at 482-2120 to make an appointment.
