D. Ron Von Dell was elected to the North Colonie Board of Education in a Special Election on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Just two votes (248-246) separated Von Dell from his opponent, David Rosenthal, who previously served on the board for 13 years.
“I am very surprised, but I am excited about this opportunity,” Von Dell said. “I hope that I can be a very valuable member of the Board of Education and represent the North Colonie community well.”
This will be Von Dell’s first term on the school board and he fills the seat vacated by Siren Chudgar, who resigned in November. Von Dell’s term expires on June 30, 2016.
“On behalf of the Board, I offer my heartiest congratulations to Von Dell,” said Board President Mary Nardolillo. “We look forward to spending a lot of time together over the next few years representing the best interests of our students and the North Colonie community. Thanks also to Mr. Rosenthal for his willingness to run and for his continued commitment to our district.”
Von Dell currently serves as vice president of North Colonie Friends of Music and is a three-year member of the North Colonie Budget Committee. He was also the former Maplewood Elementary representative to the North Colonie Parent Advisory Committee.
