Congressman Paul Tonko will hold a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Rotterdam Junction Fire Department located on 1251 Main St. The focus of the meeting will be on recovery efforts following recent flooding, according to a press release from Tonko’s office sent this afternoon.
Tonko will be joined by federal, state, and local officials including representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Town officials also just received word of the meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and were not contacted beforehand. Tonko’s meeting is set to end as the Rotterdam Town Board meeting is set to begin at Town Hall, but according to town officials the board meeting will begin as scheduled.
Supervisor Frank DelGallo is currently out of town and can’t be reached, said DelGallo’s Confidential Secretary Barbara Butterfield.
`I just found out myself this morning when I talked to Tonko’s office,` said Butterfield. `[Tonko’s office] is emailing all the council members … DelGallo is out of the office and I won’t speak to him until later today.`
Butterfield said as of noon on Tuesday, Sept. 27, she was unsure if DelGallo or other council members would be attending the meeting. She said she would talk to him on who or if DelGallo wishes to attend the meeting.
