Historic flooding might have wiped out the first week of classes at Schenectady County Community College, but the campus is now ready for students to hit the books.
SCCC will officially start classes on Saturday, Sept. 10, at its main campus and on Monday, Sept. 12, at its new Center City location. Online classes have already started at the college.
`Our local community, public officials and College community have worked tirelessly to help Schenectady County Community College reopen for students,” said Quintin Bullock, president of SCCC, in a statement . “We are excited to begin another stellar academic year and are making accommodations to help returning and new students with the registration process. We are also pleased to offer for the first time a ‘Late Start’ alternative along with more weekend and night classes, including expanding course options in our new Center City location.”
For classes at the main campus, students are asked to park in the East Lot off Washington Avenue, across from the College and next to the Armory. Students must use the crosswalk on the corner of State Street. For classes in Center City, parking requirements have been distributed, according to college officials, and are available on the college’s website www.sunysccc.edu.
The campus bookstore along with registration and student services offices will be open for “Stop-In Saturday” on Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration for fall courses will be available through Tuesday, Sept. 13, in-person or online at www.sunysccc.edu. A host of “Late Start” Classes begin on Sept. 20, with registration ending on the same day.
