Colonie police are currently investigating a stabbing incident that occurred earlier this morning on Industrial Road, a commercial area located off of Railroad Avenue behind the Northway Mall. The victim had met the suspect, who was previously unknown to the victim, on Central Avenue and Robin Street in Albany before voluntarily with the suspect driving to Industrial Road where she was assaulted, according to the release. After the assault occurred, the victim called her friend. Colonie Police Lt. Robert Winn said once her friend realized how serious her injuries were, she transported her to Albany Medical Center Hospital. The hospital the contacted the Albany Police Department, Winn said. According to the press release, Albany police notified Colonie police that a 46-year-old white female was at Albany Medical Center Hospital being treated for stab wounds to he abdomen and leg. Winn said investigators were able to talk with her before she went into surgery. She is out of surgery and has not regained consciousness as she still has not come out on anesthesia. Winn said police cannot classify the incident as anything right now but he said prostitution is currently under investigation. She admitted to being a prostitute, he said, but she is refusing to identify the friend that had picked her up and drove her to the hospital. Winn said no sexual activity had taken place before or after the attack. Police are currently canvassing the area and are looking back at security footage to determine the route of travel. The victim did give police a description and said the suspect is a black male between the ages of 45-455. She also described him as 5’8` to 5’10`, 145 to 160 pounds, had a mustache and beard and was wearing a hat, but is believed to have short black hair. Police described the suspect’s vehicle a gold four-door sedan with a tan or cream-color interior.
