The Town of Colonie has issued a statement announcing that all evacuation notices in the town have been lifted.
The town issued another declaration for a State of Emergency yesterday afternoon after concerns regarding the Lock 7 dam in Niskayuna had surfaced. Areas along the Mohawk River were issued a voluntary evacuation notice in case a situation were to arise.
According to the release, the New York Power Authority has said the situation at the dam has stabilized and water levels behind the dam have been receding
A Red Cross shelter created at the Cohoes High School for residents at the Village One Apartments and at Blain’s Bay has now been closed, as well. The release says residents have now been allowed to go back to their homes.
The town has also lifted the water usage and water restriction measures in both the Town and Village of Colonie. A press release said the town’s water supply remained safe as the Mohawk River flooded and all New York State Department of Health water quality standards were maintained as well.
Restoration efforts have already begun and residents should be advised there is utility work that is ongoing. The National Grid is working on restoring power to some of the small pockets in the town that lost it, according to the release.
