Four vehicles were involved in a crash today that temporarily closed a portion of the Delmar Bypass.
The incident occurred near the busy road’s intersection with Murray Avenue at 12:12 p.m., according to Bethlehem police.
Police said a car driven by Isabel Glastetter, of Delmar, was going eastbound on the Bypass (Route 32) when it hit two vehicles stopped at the traffic light. Her car then crossed through the intersection and struck another stopped vehicle in the westbound lane and drove off the road, coming to rest at the bottom of an embankment after striking a tree.
Five people were transported to the hospital for various injuries and a sixth was treated and released on the scene, police said. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The bypass was reopened to traffic at about 1 p.m.
