Saratoga Springs City Police arrested Charles O. Sharp, 29, of Clinton Street in Saratoga Springs on Monday, May 23, and charged him with burglary in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree, felonies.
According to police reports, Sharp allegedly entered Uncommon Grounds on Broadway on May 14 between 3 and 4 a.m. and stole more than $3,000 cash (an exact amount has not been determined) and no force was used to gain entry to the building.
The burglary was reported to police on May 14 at about 10:20 a.m. and at 8:55 p.m. the same day, family members of Sharp reported him missing to police, according to police reports. Police and family members were unable to locate Sharp from May 14 until May 23 when he showed up at Police Headquarters on Lake Avenue, where he was arrested a short time later on the burglary and grand larceny charges, according to police reports.
Police said they believe Sharp has been out of New York State since May 14.
Sharp was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. `
