Ballston Spa district voters passed a $72.9 million budget for 2011-12 by a vote of 1,490 to 924, according to coordinator of community relations Stuart Williams.
We’re appreciative of the community’s support of the budget plan we put forward, said Superintendent Joseph P. Dragone. `We will continue to balance fiscal responsibility and offer unparalleled academic opportunities for our students.`
The budget includes a 2.5 percent tax levy increase with an average property tax increase of 1.5 percent and an overall spending increase of 0.6 percent year-to-year.
Voters reelected incumbents Frank Townley and Jeanne Obermayer, current board vice president, to the Board of Education , defeating Julia Jewels Ritchie.
Unofficial results also showed voters passed three propositions on the ballot. A school vehicle replacement proposition at a cost of $928,000, a $50,000 proposition for the Ballston Spa Public Library and a $28,000 Ballston Area Recreation Commission proposition.
