State Police arrested a Sullivan County man on Leandra’s Law charges Saturday, April 7, after stopping him on the Thruway in Guilderland.
Police said George R. Vandermark, 39, of White Lake, was pulled over around 3:30 a.m. after police received a complaint regarding an erratic driver on the Thruway. Vandermark had been drinking while on the way to the Albany International Airport and a vacation in Disneyworld, police said, and had his 3-year-old daughter in the car.
Vandermark had a BAC of 0.19 percent, troopers said, which is over double the legal limit. In addition to the felony aggravated DWI charge, he was also arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and DWI, both misdemeanors, and traffic violations.
He was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and remanded to the Albany County jail. The child was picked up by family members at the police barracks.
