The wife of the Town of Milton supervisor was arrested by State Police and charged with grand larceny on Friday, April 29, according to police reports.
Deborah C. Thompson of 71 Thompson Ave. in Ballston Spa was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony, for allegedly stealing more than $20,000 from an elderly woman at Maplewood Manor, according to police reports
Thompson is the wife of Supervisor Frank Thompson of the Town of Milton.
According to police reports, the New York State Office of Mental Health was contacted by the Maplewood Manor resident’s bank relative to improprieties in expenditures in the account. Thompson is alleged to have stolen more than $20,000 from the checking and savings account of an elderly resident while acting as her legal guardian, according to police reports.
Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy said he will appoint a special prosecutor to handle the case since Supervisor Thompson is the chair of Law and Finance and has direct control over Murphy’s office budget and personnel.
…it is ethically required that I obtain a judge’s order for a special prosecutor to handle this prosecution. The NYSP investigation continues and I want to avoid any conflict or any appearance of a conflict in this case, said Murphy.
