A Saratoga Springs man led city police on a short vehicle pursuit before being apprehended and arrested on Thursday, April 28, according to police reports.
Around 8:51 p.m. on April 28, a Saratoga Springs police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black Jeep Cherokee for erratic driving on Clinton Street when the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and led police on a short chase through the city’s West Side, according to police reports.
Anthony Delaurie, 34, of Daniels Road, the driver, led police on a 2-mile chase that lasted for less than five minutes before he struck a tree, fled the vehicle and was apprehended by police in a nearby wood lot, according to police reports.
Delaurie was charged with several vehicle and traffic law offenses, including misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, as well as unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree for possession of several Xanax pills, all misdemeanors.
Additionally, Delaurie was charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree for possession of crack cocaine.
No injuries or serious property damage resulted from the pursuit, said police.
Delaurie was arraigned in City Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
