The Bethlehem Police Department is seeking a man who led police on a high-speed chase Sunday, April 3.
The unidentified suspect fled from a traffic stop at about 7 p.m. and drove up Route 9W, eventually reaching the Van Allen Senior Apartments complex in Glenmont. He then drove into a wooded area and apparently abandoned the car, taking off through the woods on foot, according to police.
Police were unable to apprehend the man at the scene and are in the process of identifying and locating the driver, said Sergeant Robert Helligrass of the BPD. It’s not clear why the suspect took off in the first place.
It was just a traffic stop and the guy fled once the officer approached the car, Helligrass said.
Police said an investigation is ongoing.
