Former U.N. weapons inspector and Delmar resident Scott Ritter will stand trial tomorrow in a Stroudsburg, Pa. court on sex offense charges.
Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Michael Rykechevski said he thinks the trial should be over in a matter of days.
Ritter, 49, was allegedly caught in an Internet sting operation run by the Barrett Township Police Department in February of 2009. Police said Ritter under the screen name delmarm4fun, had a sexual conversation with a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl named Emily but was actually a police officer.
Police said he exposed himself to the officer via a web camera.
The trial date was pushed back several times as attorneys argued over whether information from two past arrests would be admissible during the trial. Ritter was arrested on similar charges in the early 2000s. One case was dismissed and records were sealed in the other.
Rykechevski said the argument over that information still hasn’t ended but the jury should see at least some of it.
`The judge had ruled in our favor for the majority of the issues that were brought up, so we should be able to bring that in,` he said.
