Wilton Supervisor Art Johnson announced his intention to run for reelection on Friday, March 4. Before serving as supervisor, Johnson was deputy supervisor, town councilman and town accessor.
It might sound simple, but I really just want to continue to do what’s best for the residents, said Johnson in a statement. `I enjoy working for the community and I put in all my effort to make this a great place to live and raise your family.`
Throughout his tenure as supervisor, Johnson has maintained Wilton to have no local taxes (general and highway fund), according to information from his office. Wilton is widely recognized as one of the lowest taxed towns, in the lowest taxed county in New York State.
Planning for tomorrow and generations to come is the current approach for Johnson, who has put Wilton at the top of the list to gain spin-off jobs from the growing technology campus and the GlobalFoundries plant in Malta, according to information from his office.
`It’s vital that we’re proactive in attracting jobs for Wilton residents through economic development because it’s very important to our continued success as a community. I have been honored to serve my friends and neighbors in Wilton in these ventures, and I hope to have the opportunity to continue to do so,` said Johnson in a statement.
