Fellows looking to spruce up their look could hardly do better than to frequent Gregory’s Barber Shop in Delmar this coming Saturday, Jan. 23, when the shop will participate for the third year running in the Coaches Vs. Cancer fundraiser at the Albany Academies.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., a $20 donation to the national charity event, which benefits the American Cancer Society, buys a haircut or a hot towel shave. The proceeds will be donated during the Coaches Vs. Cancer High School Challenge on Jan. 30 at Albany Academies.
Last year, the shop raised $1,100.
We’d like to hit $1,500 this year, said owner Greg Zorian. `We’re going to have seven barbers and we’re going to be open from 4 to 7 … half the staff from the Clifton Park store comes down and helps us out too.`
Zorian said he joined the fundraiser after learning about it from a regular customer.
`I had a customer whose son went to Albany Academies, and she asked if I wanted to make a donation. I just said I can do one better.“
