State Police arrested John M. Spaas, 38, of 916 Pennsylvania Ave., Schenectady, for the charge of felony DWI on Sunday, Jan. 16.
At 6:45 a.m. State Police responded to a one-car property damage accident on the New York State Thruway in the Town of Guilderland. Troopers arrived and found Spaas was traveling west on the Thruway when he drove off the right shoulder in his 2007 Honda Accord and rolled the car over in the snow on the shoulder, said police.
Spaas was found to be intoxicated, according to police, and was arrested for Felony Driving While Intoxicated. Police said Spaas refused to take a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content.
He was arraigned in the Town of Guilderland Court and remanded to Albany County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m.`
