The Colonie Town Board voted tonight to appoint an acting director for the Town’s Building Department as current Director Mike Rosch will be retiring at the end of this year.
Taking his place before a new director is appointed will be Public Works Commissioner Jack Cunningham.
Town Supervisor Paula Mahan said she is sad to see him go but added that she’s sure the department will be able to weather the change.
We certainly will miss him but we wish him all the best as he goes on to a new journey in his life, she side. `We have a lot of people there with a lot of knowledge as well, and a position that has been created for the Building Department manager, which will be overseen by the commissioner of Public Works, will be able to handle everything well.`
Mahan said the town will continue some of the work Rosch began, such as trying to streamline the permitting process by consolidating applications that would cut down of paperwork for applicants.
Even though Rosch has signaled his departure, Mahan said she doesn’t think it will be the last the town will be seeing of him.
`I’m sure he’ll be back, checking on things and visiting us, we truly appreciate everything he’s done for us,` she said.“
