A Ballston woman who pleaded guilty in September to stabbing her husband multiple times while he slept in their bed in November 2009, was sentenced to nine years in a state correctional facility and five years post release supervision, along with a permanent order of protection on Thursday, Dec. 2, according to Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy’s office.
Mary Jane Vautrin, 36, formerly of 44 Sherman Way in Ballston Spa but who had been residing in Cohoes, pleaded guilty in September to felony first degree assault, according to Murphy’s office.
The victim, Thomas Vautrin, spoke at sentencing on behalf of himself and their two children (ages six and 11), said Murphy, and stated that he was both physically and emotionally scarred by the attack from his wife and that he and his children were forever affected by it. He told the judge he was satisfied with the sentence of nine years and felt comfortable with the time in prison, the post release supervision and the permanent order of protection, according to information from Murphy’s office.
According to information from Murphy’s office, the defendant made no statement in court relative to her conduct and made no comment to explain her motive or her actions and did not apologize or show remorse.
