Wierzbowski stays on Town Board, defeats Rosenberg
Republican Gina Wierzbowski, who was elected during a special election, retained her town board seat over Democrat challenger Edward Rosenberg.
The Glenville Town Board is held by all Republicans and Rosenberg was aiming to add some Democrat input into the board, but voters clearly decided Wierzbowski should remain on the board. Next election cycle she will be up for a full four-year term position.
I’m grateful that I received the support of the residents of the town and I take the responsibility very serious and I will continue to work with the other board members to promote fiscal responsibility, said Wierzbowski. `I think it really speaks to the fact that they realize our board is a strong team and we worked together and we have the same vision that many residents have for the town.`
Unofficial election results from Schenectady County have Wierzbowski with 6,627 votes, 62.5 percent, and Rosenberg receiving 3,970 votes, 37.44 percent.
Calder defeats Salamone for R’dam Town Board
Wayne Calder will join the Rotterdam Town Board and fill the vacancy created by Gerard Parisi, whom is leaving his position.
With Parisi leaving the board, Republican Frank Salamone was slated to fill his seat for the party, but Democrat Calder proved voters supported adding another Democrat. One party will now control the Town Board. Parisi was often the outspoken member of the board and clashed with the Supervisor Frank
Unofficial election results from Schenectady County show Calder receiving 5,460 votes, 55 percent, and Salamone received 4,444 votes, 44.8 percent.
Kastberg retains Village Mayor position
Democrat Incumbent Kris Kastberg will keep his position as the mayor of the Village of Scotia, defeating Republican challenger Randall Lombardo.
Voter approval was strong for Kastberg as he received nearly twice the amount votes his opponent received.
Unofficial election results from Schenectady County have Kastberg with 1,567 votes, 64.6 percent, and Lombardo had 850 votes, 35 percent.
Village Trustee race results a close call
Democrat candidates in the Village of Scotia came out on top in a close election race, with newcomer Catherine Gatta securing a seat on the Board of Trustees. Democrat incumbent Joseph Rizzo appears to have beaten out Republican incumbent E. Thomas Neals for the remaining seat.
Unofficial results from Schenectady County have Gatta with 1,683 votes, 38.8 percent. Rizzo narrowly grabbed the second seat by 25 votes with him receiving a total of 1,337 votes, 30.8 percent, and Neals closely behind with 1,312 votes, 30.2 percent. When the official results are announced Rizzo can securely claim his victory.
Voters were allowed to vote for two out of the three candidates for the board election.“
