The Albany County Sheriff”s Department has announced a STOP-DWI Blanket Patrol will be in effect for the Halloween weekend.
The patrol is to start at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, and run until 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31.
The Sheriff’s Department and 11 other police agencies are to participate in what is to be the 84th such patrol since the program began in 1989. A blanket patrol generally involves increased sobriety checkpoints and police patrols on area roadways.
The last blanket patrol, held Sept. 2 to 5, resulted in 18 arrests on charges of drugged or drunk driving.`
