Bethlehem police have arrested a City of Troy teacher and Delmar Track and Field Club coach on charges he sent emails to a 14-year-old girl inviting the minor to engage in sexual contact with him.
Chad N. Davey, 32, of Murray Avenue in Delmar, was arrested today and charged with attempted disseminating indecent material to minors in the first degree; a felony, endangering the welfare of a child and attempted endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
Police said the mother of the girl contacted a school resource officer after discovering the emails from Davey, who was coaching the girl. The FBI Innocent Images Unit assisted in the investigation.
Bethlehem Central School District Superintendent Michael Tebbano said Tuesday in a letter to parents that Davey is not employed by the district or coaches any of its teams.
Davey was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail. He is scheduled to return to Bethlehem Town Court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
Police are asking anyone with information on Davey or other victims to call 439-9973.
