State Police out of Loudonville’s Troop G are investigating a five vehicle accident that occurred in route 7 on the evening of Sept. 2, claiming the life of one of the drivers, James M. Jubrey.
Jubrey, 29, of Rensselear was driving eastbound on Alternate Route 7 when he cut off Bonnie J. Pettograsso, 42, of Waterford and her husband Ronald, when his back bumper struck their car causing both cars to lose control and drive over the median into the westbound lanes, according to police. Jubrey’s car sideswiped a car driven by Pruthvi Jayasimha, 33, of Guilderland and then hit cars driven by John R. Adams, 56, of Troy and Clinton Hayduke, 26, of Albany.
Police said Pettograsso’s vehicle then struck Jayasimha’s car, causing Pettograsso to overturn.
Adams was transported to Albany Medical Center after being thrown from his car and dislocated and broke his femur. Both Bonnie and Ronald Pettograsso were taken to Albany Medical Hospital for injuries Hayduke was taken to St. Peter’s Hospital for minor injuries, according to police.
Police said the investigation into the accident is still ongoing and have said that aggressive driving by Jubrey played a role in the crash.
