Early this morning a Century House hotel clerk was tied up and beaten from behind during a robbery according to Colonie Police.
With his back to the assailants, the clerk had a pillow put over his head as the suspects began beating him with blows to face around 1:30 a.m. The suspects took the clerk’s wallet and broke his cell phone in order to prevent him from calling the authorities, Lt. Robert Winn believes. The suspects left his wallet and cell phone in the lobby but got away with $200 from the register.
Winn said the clerk described the suspects as two black males with heights between 5’10 and 5’11 with medium build, but was not able to describe much else. He was also not able to report how the suspects escaped as well as in what direction.
While there are no leads currently on this specific case, Winn said he believes they will be able to link this robbery with a similar one that occurred on July 9 at the Courtyard Marriot on Wolf Road. The clerk at the Marriot did not sustain any injuries.
We believe we’ll be able to tie the two together, Winn said, `but the fact that the violence level has risen is troubling.`
The clerk from the Century House was treated at Albany Memorial Hospital for injuries to his face including pain, swelling and minor cuts. He was released this morning.“
