A woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted by former River Rat Robert Bobby Hughes filed two formal complaints against the Bethlehem Police Department regarding her treatment the night of the alleged incident and the department’s handling of the investigation.
She spoke about the reports in Albany County court today, saying police who responded to her 911 call treated her `like I was just a drunk` and refused to investigate further when she told them something was wrong.
She also later made a specific complaint about Det. Charles Radliff, one of the investigators in the case who was one of two people to review video surveillance footage from My Place bar, where she met Hughes. The footage has not been preserved.
Radliff made comments to her about how the camera was above the two and it appeared she had on `a low cut shirt` after he reviewed the footage, she said.
`I didn’t feel it was his place to say that,` she said.
Bar owner John Giaconne was the other person to review the footage. It is not clear how the footage was lost, but Radliff will testify later in the trial as to what he saw on the tape.
Earlier today, defense attorney Robert Molloy asked the alleged victim if she had seen Radliff at the bar on the night in question. She said she didn’t know Radliff prior to the investigation and wouldn’t have known if she did see him.
The alleged victim also said she had heard from her sister that Radliff accepted hockey tickets when interviewing Hughes.“
