Jackeem Garris, 24, of Broadway Street, Schenectady, and Nowratan Persaud, 18 of Stanford Street, Schenectady, were arrested by Glenville police on charges of attempted robbery and possession of burglar tools in the attempted robbery of the Bank of America on 200 Saratoga Road in Glenville, according to a release from the department.
At 9 a.m. on May 27, employees of the banks noticed two suspicious looking subjects outside of the bank. After breifly watching the two subjects, an employee of the bank decided to lock the door and called 911. According to the release, Detective William Marchewka initiated contact with the suspects in the lot of the old K-Mart site on Saratoga Road and with the assistance of officer Tim Mell found them to be in the posession of two BB guns that appeared to be real semi-automatic handguns. They were also had numerous flex cuffs and a knife in their possession.
Both Garris and Persaud were both charged with two counts of attempted robbery in the second degree, a felony, and one count of possession of burglar tools. Both were arraigned in Glenville Town Court and committed to Schenectady County Jail.
