The Ballston Spa school district has revealed its summer camp enrichment experiences for this year. They run during July and August, are held at the high school and are open to all Ballston Spa students.
A one week Glee Camp is being offered from July 6-9. This program is inspired by the hit television show, and is being presented in conjunction with The Clark Dance Theatre. The program is available to all incoming grade 5-8 students. There is a $10 registration fee for this program.
A Gateway Academy for middle school students is a one-week, full day camp focusing on early engineering skills. Being held July 26-30, this camp is supported by a Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Education Foundation grant. This camp is available for incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and there is $10 fee.
Mildred Elley will offer a Video Game Design program for middle and high school students, with two week-long sessions, one in video character design (July 12-16) and one in video world design (July 19-23). These programs are available to all incoming 6th – 12th grade students. Scholarship funding from Mildred Elley allows us to offer the program to BSCSD students for an $85 fee.
A LEGO Robotics Academy program, in conjunction with RPI, will be held August 9-20 with four separate options for students. The first program option is a half day Junior LEGO Robotics morning program for incoming grade 3-5 students who did not participate in last summer’s elementary LEGO Robotics program. There are two half day offerings of the general LEGO Robotics program, one in the morning and one in the afternoon for incoming grade 6-8 (middle school) students or incoming grade 5 students who participated in the elementary program last summer. There is a half day Advanced NXT Robotics afternoon program for incoming grade 7 and 8 students who participated in the middle school level summer program last year. There is a $350 fee associated with each one of these program offerings.
Detailed program brochures are available for viewing/printing online, as well as in hard copy form in building offices. Additional information and an online application are available on the district website at www.bscsd.org.
