Two new proposed technology programs could see implementation in the coming fall semester at Schenectady County Community College.
The SCCC Board of Trustees passed resolution to authorize President Quintin Bullock to submit a program proposal to SUNY for two new technology programs during their Monday, March 15 meeting.
The board unamimously passed resolution for a program proposal for an Alternative Energy Technology A.A.S and a Storage Battery Technology Certificate program at the community college. The program proposals will submit the proposals to the State University of new York for review and consideration for September of 2010, pending approval by the SCCC faculty, according to documents from the college.
Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs for SCCC, Angela Prestigiacomo, said these news programs will allow students new opportunities in the renewable energy fields, with help from GE Energy.
We’re very excited about the opportunities to offer these program to the community, said Prestigiacomo. `It will provide foundations and core principles of fundamental design, operation and matinence techniques to work with renewable energies.`
The board of trustees also approved the submission of a program announcement to SUNY for a Liberal Arts: Mathematics A.S. program at the college.
The board will meet again on Monday, April 19, at 4:45 p.m.“
