Saratoga Springs City Police arrested a New York City man early on the morning of Friday, March 12, after investigating suspicious activity in the downtown area. According to police, Jermaine Perez, 33, of the Bronx, and a female companion, Xiomara Goboyeaux, 27, of Brookline Drive in Ballston Spa, were acting suspiciously at about 2:12 a.m. When approached by police, the pair who were seated in a vehicle in the Woodlawn Avenue parking lot, were found with about 23 grams of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and a few thousand dollars in cash, said Lt. Greg Veitch.
The drugs and money were seized and Perez was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a felony. Police said Perez possessed the drugs with intent to sell and estimated the street value of the drugs to be about $2,000.
Goboyeaux was arrested on an outstanding Saratoga Springs City Court bench warrant, according to police reports.
Perez was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court and remanded to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in City Court again on Tuesday, March 16.
