The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake boys basketball team returned to Suburban Council action in a big way Tuesday.
The Spartans turned in a strong defensive effort to defeat South Division co-leader Colonie 39-33 and raise their league record to 3-2.
Zach Morton scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for BH-BL, which led 21-14 at half-time. Jacob Meyers contributed six rebounds.
Mike Branche led Colonie (4-2 league, 4-4 overall) with 10 points.
In other Suburban Council action Tuesday, Shenendehowa remained perfect with a 69-40 victory over Guilderland, while Saratoga Springs throttled Mo-honasen 64-39.
Matt Miner netted 26 points, and Dan Lee contributed 20 points for Shen (6-0, 7-0), which sank seven three-pointers against Guilderland.
Zach Arpey scored 13 points to lead a balanced Saratoga (5-1, 6-2) attack against Mohonasen.
Saratoga Central Catholic (2-4) ended an eight-day layoff between games Wednesday when it traveled to Fort Plain for a Western Athletic Conference contest.
