Frank P. Parisi, 89, of Dover Road was arrested by Niskayuna Police on charges of attempted murder in the second degree on Wednsday, Dec. 16, at 9:35 p.m. at the Nott Street Campus of Ellis Hospital.
Parisi was arraigned on the charge at Ellis Hospital by Schenectady City Court Judge Christine Clark and was remanded to the custody of the Schenectady County Sheriff. He is scheduled to appear in Niskayuna Town Court upon his release from the hospital, according to a media release from the Niskayuna Police Department.
According to police, the arrest followed an investigation of a 9 a.m. report at the Dover Road residence after an initial report that Parisi had attempted suicide by overdose. The investigation expanded when it was determined that Parisi had attempted to smother his 87 year old sister with a bed pillow, according to police.
It’s clearly a sad case and story for this time of year, said Niskayuna Police Chief John Lubrant.
Both the victim, who resides at the residence, and Parisi were transported to Ellis Hospital for medical treatment, according to police reports.
