Monroe-Woodbury scored a third-period goal to forge a 2-2 tie with Shaker/Colonie in the Jets’ home opener last Saturday at the Albany County Hockey Facility in Colonie.
Shaker/Colonie (2-1-1) took a 2-1 lead on goals by Joe Chiara and Ian Mahota before Monroe-Woodbury got the equalizer to put a damper on the Jets’ day, which included the raising of their Section II championship banner prior to the game.
Goaltender Jim Lanne made 17 saves for Shaker/Colonie, which was coming off a 5-3 loss to Section X power Canton last Friday.
The Jets begin their Capital District High School Hockey League season Friday when they visit Queensbury. They then get a small break before hosting Christian Brothers Academy Tuesday, Dec. 15.`
