It’s expected that the Bethlehem Town Board will vote to adopt a budget at this evening’s meeting, set to begin at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
Usually held on Wednesdays, this week’s meeting was moved up to accommodate Veterans Day. November’s second meeting will be held on Nov. 24, also a Tuesday.
The budget proposed in September called for a 3.79 percent spending increase for a $39.9 million budget and a tax rate increase of 2 percent to $2.77 per $1,000 of assessed property value. Supervisor Jack Cunningham said on Monday that after conferring with other members of the board, some changes will be proposed before the vote, but the proposed tax rate will remain.
Also on the agenda is a resolution to allow the town’s Parks and Recreation Department to use $40,000 out of its Set Aside Fund to build a new maintenance garage at the Colonial Acres Golf Course. If approved, foundation work would start in the fall, said Parks and Recreation Administrator Nan Lanahan.
