The Schalmont football team turned in a dominating performance to move into its first Section II, Class B title game.
The Sabres jumped out to a 28-14 halftime lead, and they never looked back in dismissing Cohoes 55-14 in last Friday’s semifinal game in Rotterdam.
Senior quarterback Vince Gallo had a big night for Schalmont (7-2). He rushed for 300 yards and four touch-downs, and he added 61 passing yards, including a 41-yard scoring strike to Alberto Beltran to get the Sabres on the scoreboard in the first quarter.
DeShawn Banks added an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Schalmont, which meets Lansingburgh in Saturday’s Class B final at Schenectady High School.`
