Police departments in Albany County are reporting that 25 drunk driving arrests were made over the weekend’s countywide DWI Blanket Patrol.
Eleven municipal police departments, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and state police participated in the 76th countywide patrol, which ran from 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, to 5 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1.
Police made 1,518 traffic stops during the patrol. The average BAC of those arrested for DWI was 0.148 percent. Nine arrests were made for aggravated DWI, or having a BAC above 0.18 percent.
One arrest was made for driving while ability impaired, and three were arrested for DWAI-drugs.
One of those arrested included an individual who left a house party dressed as a breathalyzer and refused to submit to a breath test when stopped by Colonie police.
The patrol also stopped 62 vehicles with designated drivers.
