Bethlehem Town Board candidate Mark Jordan has levied an unfair campaign practices complaint against an opponent, Republican Frank Di Maggio, in regard to an advertorial flyer distributed in the Times Union on Friday, Oct. 23.
The flyer alleges Democrat Jordan received 116 ghost parking tickets worth over $7,500, and cites a state comptroller’s report.
Jordan, in his complaint, said that the no-fine tickets were issued to a vehicle registered to his wife and himself that his wife, who works for law enforcement in the Third Judicial District, used for official business prior to being issued and official state vehicle.
He went on to assert that the tickets were in no way connected to his duties as chief-of-staff for Assemblyman Tim Gordon.
`The fact of the matter is that I never received any tickets; Assemblyman Tim Gordon had not even been elected when the tickets were issued; I did not even work in Albany or have any business dealings in Albany when the tickets were issued; and, I did not engage in any wrongdoing,` Jordan’s complaint reads.
Rev. Mick Drown, of Fair Campaign Practices for the Capital Region, said that the candidates have agreed to meet with the group on Friday evening for a hearing.
