Representatives from Sphere Development LLC, a company that once had a contract with owners of the Bender Melon Farm in New Scotland, issued a statement today, Oct. 20, stating it will not endorse any candidate for town board.
Sphere said last week they are in contract negotiations with another parcel owner in the same market, but could not confirm if it was in New Scotland.
In the Oct. 20 statement, they clarify their stance on who they would like to see in office after the election. Comments prior to the statement indicated they preferred a candidate who did not favor a retail size cap on buildings in the commercial zone.
Sphere Development has become very concerned with the manner in which it was portrayed to support certain candidates in the upcoming Town of New Scotland Town Board election by a local media organization. This portrayal is further being manufactured into fact by local New Scotland organizations that endorse particular candidates in the upcoming Town Board elections, the statement reads. `This press release is being issued to correct this false portrayal. Sphere Development’s official position is that it does not now or has it ever endorsed any candidate in the upcoming New Scotland Town Board election. Sphere has not made and will not make any campaign contributions to ant candidate for the New Scotland Town Board. Any statements or representations to the contrary are completely false.`
