The Clifton Park Democratic Committee has announced its slate of endorsed candidates for the November 2009 town election.
Dems are backing Bill Casey for supervisor, as well as Margaret Catellier and Wanda Zygmuntowicz for the two open town board seats.
We are proud to offer three highly qualified candidates who are true citizen advocates, said Committee Chair Todd Kerner, in a statement. `We opened the door for everyone to come in and be involved in the process and the end result is a slate of candidates which is inclusive and represents key issues of concern to the residents of our town.`
Casey is a former New York State deputy comptroller and has served in the state Office of General Services as executive director of its Building Design and Construction Program. He previously served on the Shenendehowa Board of Education for eight years. He resides in the Clifton Knolls neighborhood with his wife, Betty.
In a statement, Casey called for open government, green initiatives and a `more equitable tax structure.`
`There needs to be an aggressive analysis of where tax money is spent and where it can be saved,` said Casey. `Of critical importance, with the slumping economy and the resultant reduction in mortgage and sales tax revenues, out town needs to reevaluate its spending, not treating the ‘tax surplus’ as money to be hoarded or unwisely spent.`
Catellier is a sales/service representative with Northeast Controls, Inc. She is a founding member of Friends of Clifton Park Open Space and is involved with volunteer work in the community.
Zygmuntowicz works as the managing partner and president and chief operating officer of CUSTOMERcity. She is a member of the Southern Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, the Women’s President Organization, the American Marketing Association and the Human Rights Campaign.
