The Bethlehem girls lacrosse team obliterated Shenendehowa 19-1 Monday in a Suburban Council game.
The Lady Eagles (6-1) scored three easy goals within the first five minutes. By halftime, Bethlehem had a 12-0 lead.
I felt that we truly came together and played as a team today, said head coach Dawn Austin. `We worked the ball around, were more patient on offense and capitalized on our opponents mistakes.`
Cameron Caesar scored five goals to lead Bethlehem. Caesar has 16 goals this season, making her the leading goal scorer for the Lady Eagles.
Bethlehem looks like a young team with only one senior, but has 10 returning starters and 14 returning players.
`This year, we’ve stepped up our game. With all their playing experience from last year, they understand the game much better,` said Austin.
The Lady Eagles hope to regain the Section II title after winning it for eight straight years from 1998-2006. Guilderland has won the last two Sectional championships.
`This team hopes to regain that title,` stated Austin. `We have a very balanced attack. As you can see, nine different players scored today.`
