After a two hour executive session, the Schenectady City School District has decided to have an investigation – independent from the DA’s criminal investigation – to look into claims of workplace abuse by Steven Raucci, who is on unpaid leave from the Schenectady City School District where he is employed as their facilities director.
The examination will also include other school employees who may have been aware of Raucci’s alleged misconduct but failed to intervene. The investigator will either be a school attorney or a retired labor relations specialist.
Earlier this week, the prosecutor revealed a letter from Raucci to a new female employee where he wrote that she should be attractive, sensitive and classy with a touch of sexiness, and that she should make sure her `supervisor is always happy,` and that it must be understood that during work hours she `is there for her supervisor.`
According to the school district, they can’t simply fire employees, despite the wishes of many parents.
Raucci was arrested nearly three weeks ago and faces charges of multiple bombing incidents in three counties dating as far back as 2001.
Raucci is being held in Schenectady County Jail without bail until his trial. The Schenectady County DA stated that his indictment will be in the coming weeks.
