Niskayuna’s Connor Reilly and Scotia-Glenville’s Kyle Palombo won individual titles at Sunday’s Section II Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University at Albany.
Reilly nipped Albany’s Kareem Morris at the finish line to win the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.5 seconds. Scotia-Glenville’s Tim Holzhauer placed sixth in the finals with a time of 7.1 seconds.
Palombo cruised to the triple jump title with a distance of 44 feet, 9 inches more than one-and-a-half feet ahead of runner-up Prince Abban of Shaker.
In other boys events, Niskayuna’s Louis Serafini and Marshall Pagano finished a respective third and fifth in the 1,600-meter run, while Holzhauer placed fourth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 37.6 seconds. Serafini was second in the 1,000-meter race with a time of 2:34.8.
On the girls’ side, Niskayuna’s 800-meter relay team took first place and earned an automatic berth to this weekend’s state meet in Ithaca. The team of Victoria Engvold, Sonya Pevzner, Joanna Clark and Caitlyn Mills finished with a winning time of 1:50.3.
Mills added a third-place finish in the 300-meter dash with a time of 43.3 seconds, while Niskayuna teammate Brittney Wetzel placed third in the 1,500-meter race walk with a time of 10:13.4.
Mohonasen’s Jessica Ciraulo had a third-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, .5 inches.`
